This section is designed to provide quick answers to some of the questions most often asked about Pointe Shoe Summit. The questions under the headings are just a representative sample of what we routinely answer.
The Pointe Shoe Summit is open to anyone involved in the health, training or support of dancers, including teachers, studio owners, physiotherapists, osteopaths, podiatrists, pointe shoe fitters and dance medicine specialists. It is not only for professional dancers or teachers. The content and discussions provide valuable insights for every group, offering shared language and approaches that strengthen the dancer support network as a whole.
We recommend wearing comfortable clothing that allows for easy movement throughout the sessions. You will need to be able to access your feet during practical work, so please choose clothing and footwear accordingly. Given the full-day schedule, light refreshments will be provided. We kindly ask that attendees bring their own lunch each day. A notebook or device for taking notes is also encouraged.
Yes. The Summit runs from 9.00am to 5.00pm each day. It is an intensive program that includes a combination of presentations, discussion and hands-on practical sessions.
No. Prior pointe or dance training is not required to attend the Summit. All sessions are designed to support a wide range of professional backgrounds. If you do have pointe experience, we recommend bringing your pointe shoes with you for the practical components. Otherwise, comfortable socks or bare feet are perfectly suitable.
If you already dance en pointe or have pointe experience, we recommend bringing your pointe shoes for the practical components. However, bringing pointe shoes is not mandatory. Many attendees participate in socks or bare feet, and the learning remains just as valuable.
The Summit is designed for professionals and those involved in supporting dancer wellbeing. For younger dancers, we recommend attending our dedicated Dancer–Parent Workshop. This workshop is specifically created to guide dancers and their families through safe and informed preparation for pointe work.
Yes. All attendees will receive a Pointe Shoe Summit Certificate of Professional Development upon completion. While we are not formally affiliated with external CPD accreditation bodies, many participants are able to use these hours toward their ongoing professional development. We encourage you to check the requirements for your specific organisation or registration body to confirm how these hours can be applied.
Yes. We plan to record all sessions across the three days of the Summit and, with support from our sponsors, make a recorded version available to attendees. This allows you to revisit key concepts and continue learning after the event.
