Pointe Shoe Summit Singapore 2026

In Partnership with Sonata Dancewear

Set within the cultural energy of Singapore, and hosted by Singapore Ballet, the 2026 Pointe Shoe Summit invites us to gather in a city where tradition and innovation meet, redefining how we care for dancers.

What to Expect

Three immersive days that redefine how we approach dancer care and pointe work. Expect hands-on learning guided by leading experts and meaningful conversations that challenge outdated ideas and place dancer well-being at the center. You will leave with renewed perspective and practical tools to elevate the way you teach, support and guide dancers in their pointe journey. This is where change begins, together.

Pointe Shoe Summit Schedule

Wednesday August 5 - August 7 2026

Held at Singapore Ballet | 9am – 5pm

Day One: Building The Foundation

This day is fully interactive, combining:

  • Guided discussion
  • Practical alignment work
  • Movement exploration you can feel in your own body

The goal is to understand a strong, informed foundation that supports safe and confident progression towards pointe work.

Day Two: Preparing The Body For Pointe

We apply the foundational work and observe how it translates into the pointe shoe.

  • How a correct pointe shoe fitting is completed and why it matters
  • Recognizing how different feet respond inside the shoe
  • Strengthening techniques to work with the shoe, not against it.
  • Pointe shoe safety and foot taping approaches

This is about building clarity and confidence, so dancers progress onto pointe feeling prepared, supported and informed.

Day Three : All Things Pointe (Morning Session)

We finish with a hands-on exploration of pointe shoe construction and brand differences to understand which shoes best support which feet.

Key Focuses:

  • Anatomy of the pointe shoe
  • Understanding brand and model variations
  • Practical shoe dissection and guided discussion
  • Identifying which shoe structures suit which foot types
  • How to care for and treat pointe shoes to optimize support

This day builds confidence in making informed, individualized choices so dancers work in shoes that truly support their technique and their bodies.

Day Three: Introducing Juon Pointe Methods To Our Young Dancers (Afternoon Session)

This session highlights the value of early technique and alignment. Michelle demonstrates, through a case study, how early technique and alignment set young dancers up for safe, confident pre-pointe progression.

We explore:

  • How to introduce the Juon Pointe Method effectively at a young level
  • Tools and cues that support alignment and strong technique
  • Practical strategies to reduce preventable injuries and physical or mental stress as dancers progress

Parent and Dancer Workshop

Saturday 8 August 2026

Held at Singapore Ballet | 2pm – 6pm

Starting pointe too early risks injury. Learn how to recognise readiness and support a safe, confident transition en pointe.

You’ll learn:

• The physical foundations even dancer needs: strength, alignment, balance and stability.
• The warning signs that a dancer isn’t quite ready yet, and the steps to take to get there.
• Why a pre-pointe full assessment matters and what it reveals.
• How to guide your dancer towards safe, injury-free

This workshop ensures families understand the physical requirements of pointe and how to prepare for them responsibly.
